Say What?

HEARING LOSS

Do you know people who shout when they are talking?  Does your spouse turn the t.v. up Loud, so they can hear better, but, it is really loud to you?  They could be experiencing hearing loss.

How is “your hearing”?  There are some signs to look for if you think you might have a hearing problem, or someone you know.

Do you find yourself having to ask the person you are talking to, to please repeat themselves?  The feeling of being frustrated at yourself will be normal, but, the person you are asking to repeat themselves might also become annoyed.

Have you found yourself having to strain to hear the person who is talking to you, when in a busy or crowded place?  Almost all background noise makes it harder to hear even the people who are sitting at the same table as you. So, you could find yourself missing bits and pieces of the conversation.

If the word “what?” is being used a lot during the day, you aren’t getting the sound signals you need to process sound correctly.  Just because you didn’t hear a mumbling co-worker from 10 feet away doesn’t mean you have hearing loss.

No need to fear.  Call a hearing professional and set up an appointment, it is not painful to take a hearing test.  There are lots of choices in today’s world for different hearing aids.  This might make a difference in how you view the world or how someone else might view you.
